On Wednesday, September 11th, an unarmed Iranian Navy vessel intercepted two suspicious skiffs that were chasing an Indian oil tanker near Somalia.
At about 4pm local time an Indian oil tanker was in the pirate-infested waters near Somalia in the Arabian Sea when personnel aboard the vessel observed two skiffs speeding toward it. After the skiffs did not slow down, the oil tanker sped up in another direction, and fired off their water hoses, and radioed to the nearest coastal authorities. However, the skiffs changed course to match the tanker’s. This cat-and-mouse chase went on for nearly 40 minutes when finally an Iranian naval vessel came into the view, and intercepted the two skiffs, along with a sailing vessel that was escorting them.
