NYNJ Port Authority plans first new bridge since 1930s | The Asbury Park Press NJ | app.com

NEW YORK — Port Authority commissioners approved a $2.8 billion construction program on Wednesday to build its first new bridge since the George Washington Bridge in the early 1930s.

The project will have construction happening simultaneously at the agency’s three bridges between Staten Island and New Jersey starting later this year.

The massive program replaces the authority’s first and oldest bridge, the Goethals, raises and widens the deck of the Bayonne Bridge and repaves the deck on the Outerbridge Crossing.
